I will be interning at the San Diego Media Arts Center from January 6th to the 28th. Today was my internship site visit and it was very exciting to get to learn more about the San Diego Media Arts Center and discuss ideas for projects. The other interns and I took a tour around the building and the space is really nice. It has a very creative vibe to it and the people are so laid back and kind. I am looking forward to coming here every day for the month of January.
I also interviewed my mentor, Lisa Salus and these were the responses I got: 1) What is a typical workday like? Every morning when you come in, check in by saying hello and greeting everyone in the office. We are really big on communicating with coworkers and expect you to do the same. Then, check the schedule to see what your duties are for the day and go to your assigned task, depending on which staff member you are working with. Also, make sure to spend at least one hour a day on your video project. Lastly, before you leave, say goodbye so that we know your whereabouts. 2) What will be our main duties and responsibilities? Other than creating your own film about a universal conflict you believe should be brought to attention and preparing for your tPOL, you will be working on these administrative tasks: Front desk coverage: Schedule to be determined. Each intern (6) will have at least three days scheduled for front desk coverage. Shifts will either be AM/PM shifts. Cinema and SDLFF related:
